I am reading A Long Way Gone, which is not even close to the type of books I usually read, but we are out of new books at home and I was desperate. Boy, I feel so lucky, too, because this book is very good.
The book is about a boy who is growing up in war-torn Sierra Leone. It is amazing and sad at the same time. My usual book choices are silly reads that I can easily put down before bed, not serious books like this one. But I am really enjoying this book and definitely recommend it to you if you're in the market for a serious read.
Along the same lines (loosely), I am amazed at the stories the former hostages are telling. I don't know if I could make it for six years in captivity. I give them a lot of credit and am thrilled that they made it home safely and are now with their families. Let's give peace a chance, OK?
