New offering from the farm?

I believe they are pronounced "TOMA-OTAYS".

When we first moved into our house we loved that fact that we had really cool floors. We had never seen Terrazzo floors prior to moving to Florida and the idea of a smooth, shiny, low-maintenance floor really made us happy. Things were good for a while, but we noticed that the floors were starting to lose their shine and looked downright dirty. We lived with the floors in this condition for a year or so until finally we had it. Something had to give.

We found a company that would completely grind down the floors, re-finish them, and apply a nice polish to the top. The downside to this was that we had to literally move out of our house for this to work. Yikes. We rented one of those PODS things and packed our entire lives into the small-ish box that was deposited into our driveway. Once the house was cleaned out, the floor people came over and started working.

Initially we thought we would be able to stay in our house during their work, but it quickly became apparent that there was no way this would happen. There was dust everywhere. And I mean everywhere. We ended up staying in a hotel for a couple nights (by the way, we LOVE La Quinta, who will take dogs of any size). It was all worth it, and now we have moved back into our house with shiny floors.

Harpo

Over the past few months we have been working on our yard. We spent a lot of time in the front yard, but really neglected the back yard. So this winter we decided it was time to spend some money back there and get it to the way we wanted it to be. One addition we made was a giant black bamboo plant, which we named Harpo. I'm not sure how the conversation around naming our new plant came about, but so it was that the black bamboo became known as Harpo. We bought it from a really cute place nearby, Green Thumb Pottery. The guys who own it are really nice and even delivered Harpo to our house. We have also planted grass in the back and new plants along the sea wall. We need to get down and dirty with a power washer to get rid of the weed growth, but all in all, we are well on our way to having a fun backyard for the summer.

The douchebag who throws his trash in the mailbox

Last week I was pulling into the parking lot at work and I noticed a guy near the set of mailboxes that is at the end of our parking lot. As I was driving by him he was throwing McDonald's bags into the postal bins under the mailboxes. I scowled at him and went about my way, thinking what a douche this guy was, but I didn't say anything to him.

This morning as I was pulling into the lot, there he was, AGAIN throwing trash into the bin. I was shocked. What a piece of shit. Not only is he littering, but he is littering on Federal property. If I see this dickhead again, I am going to give him a piece of my mind (and get his license plate number). I have been fuming about this all day.

I feel good

I was driving today and James Brown's 'I Feel Good' came on the radio. I'm not a big James Brown fan, but, for some reason, this song totally clicked with me. The blend of the lyrics and the beat just made me want to turn it up real loud. Unfortunately I was pulling into work, so I didn't get a chance to rock out to the whole song, but for the part that I was able to enjoy, it was quite pleasant. It totally summed up my day.
